200+ Broccoli Seeds Waltham Broccoli Non GMO Fresh Garden Vegetable USA

Description

Waltham 29 Broccoli is a great cool-climate Broccoli variety that produces nice, medium-sized heads and a fine crop of side shoots! Plants average 24 inches. Non-uniform in maturity resulting in a long harvest period ideal for the home vegetable garden! Easy to grow and delicious. 85 days to maturity.

Sowing

Broccoli plant seeds grow best in cool weather, so starting seeds indoors 5-6 weeks before the last expected frost will ensure a faster crop. Shortly before the last frost and when the seedling reach about 6 inches tall, plant them1-2 feet apart in rows 2-3 feet apart. For direct sowing seeds, plant them 1 inch deep and 3 inch apart in full sun and rich soil, about 2-3 weeks before the last expected spring frost, germination can take place at temperatures as low as 40 degrees F. For fall planting, direct sow the seeds in late July or August.

Growing

Keep the young plants watered and remove weeds. Mulch helps discourage weeds and regulate soil temperature, and several applications of fertilizers or compost may also be needed. If several nights of below freezing temperature are expected, cover the plants.

Harvesting

Harvest the main head while it is still tight, and before the tiny buds begin to open. Cut at least 6 inches of the stem. Side shoots will continue to develop along the stem and can be harvested as well. The plant will keep producing as long as weather conditions are favorable.
